Stephen M. Papadopoulos, M.D.

Dr. Stephen M. Papadopoulos’s career as a neurosurgeon has spanned more than 30 years. He is emeritus executive vice president and chief medical officer of Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He previously served on the faculty at the University of Michigan Department of Neurosurgery, where he spent approximately 20 years, including his time as a neurosurgical resident. Dr. Papadopoulos has made seminal contributions to the field, including in the areas of image-guided surgery, medical informatics, surgical education, and complex spinal neurosurgery. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, and he served as president of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Papadopoulos earned an MBA at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in 2009. He is a serial entrepreneur, as founder, co-founder, and board member of a number of start-up companies in the area of medical technology.

Dr. Papadopoulos hopes to bring his diverse experiences in medicine, health care delivery systems and business to the Rogel Cancer Center National Advisory Board. He is a fierce advocate for patient-centric medicine, and efficient and approachable access to care delivery. Dr. Papadopoulos believes the broad array of university resources, intellectual talent, and deep philanthropic support position the Rogel Cancer Center to be the best in the world.
