Make a HAILstone and thank front line staff

Thank you to everyone who participated in our #HAILstones project. Many of our Rogel staff participated in this showing of solidarity with our frontline staff.

Painted rocks have been consolidated in front of the cancer center. Please feel free to continue to take rocks that speak to you and leave rocks for others at that spot.

#Hailstones were the Rogel Cancer Center’s way of thanking frontline staff; from our custodians to doctors, respiratory therapists to nurses and everyone who comes in every day to help our patients.

Watch the video tutorial on how to create a HAILstone -- or scroll further down for instructions

Here’s what you do:

HAIL-stones at the entrance to the U-M Rogel Cancer Center
  • get a rock, preferably one that has a flat or smooth surface;
  • use what you have at home to decorate it:
    • acrylic paint
    • sharpie marker
    • nail polish
  • paint a thank you, message of encouragement or even a picture
  • let it dry
  • after it's dry, you can seal it with clear coat sealer or clear topcoat nail polish (optional)
  • drop it off by the employee entrance of the Rogel Cancer Center with the other rocks.
