Gynecologic cancers are uncontrolled growth and spread of cells that originate in a woman’s reproductive organs including the cervix, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, vagina, and vulva. At the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, gynecologic cancers are treated using a team approach lead by gynecologic oncologists – a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who has additional sub-specialized training in treating gynecologic cancers that include performing advanced surgery as well as managing chemotherapy and experimental therapies for the treatment of gynecologic cancers.
