Clinical Trials
Clinical Trials May Offer the Most Advanced Treatments
The Neuro-Oncology Program at the U-M Rogel Cancer Center has a number of clinical trials underway that are only available to our patients. We have extensive experience in selecting the right trial for individuals.
Participating in a clinical trial may offer you access to the most advanced treatments. In addition, participation offers the opportunity to contribute to treatment advances for all patients — including those who will be treated in the future.
At various times, we have participated in clinical trials of the following types of treatments:
- Chemotherapy drugs known to be effective against other tumors, but under consideration for brain tumors
- New chemotherapy drugs
- Gene therapy with the goal of “fixing” tumor cells
- Immunotherapy treatment using a vaccine directed against a tumor
- Radiation in unusual doses
- Radiation-enhancing drugs, which help to make radiation more effective
We also conduct clinical trials of neuro-imaging procedures such as special types of MRI scans or PET scans, to learn how these can help us better manage patients with brain tumors.
