Frequently Asked Questions

Volunteers

Q. What kind of person makes a good cancer center volunteer?

A. Many of our volunteers have been touched personally by cancer, but that is not a requirement to join our efforts. Anyone with a keen interest in helping is encouraged to volunteer. To create a successful volunteer experience, we work hard to match your skills and interests with the right opportunity.

Q. How much time is required of volunteers?

A. Volunteers are asked for a six-month commitment. On average, most contribute two to four hours each week depending on the placement. We invite you to visit the Volunteer Opportunities page for a list of types of volunteer options.

Q. Do cancer center volunteers register with Michigan Medicine Volunteer Services?

A.Yes, as with all Michigan Medicine volunteers, cancer center volunteers process through Michigan Medicine Volunteer Services.

Q. Is parking provided for volunteers?

A. Yes, free parking is one of the many benefits of volunteering.
