How You Can Help
Adrenal cancer can occur at any time in a person’s life. It is extremely rare -- about one in a million people face the disease. But with an average five-year survival rate of just 51%, it presents a grave threat to patients. The need to advance new therapies, discovery research, and medical and science education is great.
Just two decades ago, a diagnosis of adrenal cancer left little hope. Today, global collaboration is advancing breakthrough discoveries and new approaches to therapy. The University of Michigan is leading the way. Our bold goal: Cure this deadly disease. Save adults and children, moms and dads, neighbors -- everyone it touches.

Our multidisciplinary adrenal neoplasia program cares for patients with a wide range of cancerous and benign adrenal tumors; supports a robust research agenda; and educates physicians and scientists. It is one of the largest and most successful programs in the country. We have a long history of contributions to the field, with transformational impact.
A Reason for Hope
Today, worldwide progress is our new reality, and we are accelerating a wide range of groundbreaking projects, including efforts to:
- Develop a way to quickly identify whether a patient has the aggressive subtype of the disease, so that those who do can receive aggressive treatment
- Create new therapies that target very specific genetic drivers of adrenal cancer
- Improve our ability to turn a patient’s immune system against the disease, which has an uncanny ability to evade immune attack
- Prevent adrenal cancer recurrence
- Define new standards of care that will help physicians everywhere treat this cancer more effectively
