Yoga

The Rogel Cancer Center's Complementary Therapy Program does not offer yoga classes, but recognizes the benefits of them. Therefore, the following information is provided. This service may be offered in the future.

yoga pose

Hatha yoga is practiced through the use of an extensive series of body postures, movements, and breathing techniques and involves bending, twisting, and holding body positions in a specific way. The physical postures are performed while standing, sitting, or lying on the floor. An experienced teacher will consider your physical condition and needs to determine what postures are appropriate for you. The practice of yoga does not require spiritual beliefs or religious observances.

Yoga classes are offered at fitness centers, yoga studios and hospitals. Yoga teacher training varies widely, so ask instructors about their training and credentials. You may try several different styles and/or teachers before you find one that is suitable for your needs. There are also numerous books and videos about yoga available.
