U-M researchers will support new ‘liquid biopsy’ Cancer Moonshot initiative

As part of the Cancer Moonshot, representatives from government, academic, pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies are launching a new partnership in pursuit of creating an open database for liquid biopsies to potentially accelerate the development of safe and effective blood profiling diagnostic technologies for patient benefit.

For 66-year-old Christian Rasmussen, a series of stomach issues led to a diagnosis of a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. While trying to adjust and maintain a positive attitude, he heard about an art therapy workshop at the Cancer Center. His creative calling beckoned. He signed up to attend.

Charles Albrecht was making the most of his active retirement, but a diagnosis of bladder cancer came between him and these good times. After receiving traditional treatment without much success, Charles decided to enter an immunotherapy clinical trial.
