Fertility Preservation

There are millions of adults and children in the United States who survived cancer. For many, though, the success of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery includes a limitation: infertility, or loss of the ability to have children. Often, the infertility diagnosis can be as devastating as the earlier diagnosis of cancer.

At the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, there is hope, innovation and support for patients – both adult and pediatric -- who may wish to begin a family in the future. Patients who have not begun their cancer treatment can explore fertility preservation options at the Briarwood Center for Reproductive Medicine. Ours is the only clinic in Michigan offering comprehensive care for cancer patients:

  • Diagnostic services
  • Access to oncologists
  • Counseling
  • Education
  • Financial services
  • Gamete (sperm or eggs) preservation
  • Continuity of care for when it is time to conceive
