MENUWater line break on U-M Medical Campus impacts some care
Some Cancer Center care will be temporarily relocated or rescheduled; all other patient care continues normally

Ann Arbor - A water line break in the lowest level of a building on the U-M medical campus this afternoon has caused some impacts to patient care and telephone lines, but most patient care is continuing as normal.
The flow of water was stopped and cleanup has begun. Staff will work through the night to restore services affected by the flood.
Impact on Cancer Center Clinics and Infusion Centers
The U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center clinic building was evacuated this afternoon with no harm to patients; emergency power was available to complete high-priority care. The building will be closed for patient care on the evening of Jan. 10 and all day Jan. 11 due to flooding in the lower levels and a lack of power in the building.
Patients scheduled for chemotherapy infusion sessions in the main Cancer Center building on Jan. 11 are being contacted; some infusions may be performed at the new C.S. Mott Children's Hospital infusion area. Some Cancer Center clinic visits for Jan. 11 will be conducted at alternate locations; patients are being contacted to let them know where to report. Procedures scheduled for Jan. 11 are being rescheduled for another day or location.
Patients with appointments at the main Cancer Center building for Jan. 12 and beyond will be contacted if any change will be made to their schedule or location.
"We have dozens of physicians and staff working to ensure that our patients receive the best care with as little inconvenience as possible. Everyone is pitching in," says Max M. Wicha, M.D., director of the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center.
There is no impact on care in University Hospital, the Cardiovascular Center, the Taubman Center or the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital building.
However, because of water damage to some communications equipment in the flood area, phone calls to some areas of the medical campus may not go through on the first try this evening and overnight. Patients and others trying to reach phones this evening or overnight should try again if they experience any issues.
