President Joseph Biden named Christopher Friese, Ph.D., R.N., among seven new members of the National Cancer Advisory Board.
Friese is the Elizabeth Tone Hosmer Professor of Nursing, Health Management & Policy at the University of Michigan and associate director for cancer control and population sciences at the University of Michigan Health Rogel Cancer Center.
Friese is a national expert in the analyses of claims data to study care quality and has executed large surveys of ambulatory oncology nurses. He leads an interdisciplinary research program to study the quality of care delivered in understudied ambulatory oncology settings from the perspectives of patients and clinicians.
The National Cancer Advisory Board is an elite group of 18 cancer clinicians and researchers who play an important role in guiding the director of the National Cancer Institute in setting the course for the national cancer research program. Friese’s term will last six years.
“I am deeply honored that President Biden has nominated me for the National Cancer Advisory Board,” Friese said. “As a nurse scientist and educator, I hope to bring my expertise and insights to advance cutting edge research that will reduce the societal burden of cancer.”
